Ski Bus to Mt Washington

25 January 2022

The highly anticipated trips to Mt Washington that occur on each given Sunday have seemed to slow down due to Covid and low interest. But that only adds to the excitement, as students get ready to gear up for the new year.

And a day off of school this coming Monday for Winterlude is a great chance to clear any hesitancy that students may have about waking up before six on their only day off - although sleeping on the bus is encouraged.

Students have also been, for the most part, waiting since the 2020 season to be able to ski at Brentwood, so although this does add to the excitement, it also does provide an extra fear factor as many students may not have skied since before the pandemic, and they may be worried that their skills are not up to par.

The bus rides are also always something to look forward to, and although they are early mornings, you can feel the excitement radiate on the bus. Just ask Cam M, Whittall ‘22 who is always first on the bus each morning in order to “maximize Clash of Clans playing time.” He also enjoys the Mt Washington dining scene, as he “likes to stay in the warmth and get ahead on [his] Clash of Clans competitors.”

Despite some students' utilization of this day to be quite different from others, most like to ski or snowboard. Take Arlo R Whittall ‘22, for example. He uses this day not only as a break from Brentwood but also to “release the stress from school out on the slopes.”

Ultimately, although there is excitement regarding the ski bus, it is not enough, so I encourage you to try it out, as I am sure you’d have a great time out there. We all want to go skiing, so let’s make it happen.
