Showcase Basketball

The Senior Boys Basketball team played their home Showcase game against Shawnigan Lake School on Tuesday night and earned a convincing 66-28 victory. The team was supported by hundreds of Brentwood fans who attended, but it also put a lot of pressure on us. All the noise and distraction was a test for our defensive communication and offensive execution. The team was focused and came out strong: Aidan C and Davin C crushed the boards with 20 rebounds in total and dove for any lose ball that they could find. Harrison B, our Captain, took the basketball to the hoop with great confidence. Our coach, Mr. Gage, always says that the basketball can travel faster than we can, but I disagree when I see Paul L pushing the ball up court during transition plays. Veteran Woody L had great success feeding passes inside and at the same time finished with 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Grade 11s Skyler R and Sean M came off the bench and were ready to play. They not only created their own shots, they also made plays with their solid defense. Thank you to all the fans who came out and supported us. It was a special Brentwood night for everyone. We would also like to wish the Hockey team good luck at their Showcase game this Saturday night. Tickets, unfortunately, are harder to get than those for Sochi. ;-) Frank Z, Privett ‘14
