Rogers House

As the pages of another year turn, we find ourselves at the end of a chapter filled with new friendships, support and unforgettable memories - such as Ms Whitney waking us up to rigorous #1 Inspections. Every moment has shaped us into better men and, most of all, better crew members.

After the much-needed renovations, the students returned to a Rogers House which had been completely revamped. New carpet, new appliances, new paint, and new beds gave the house a feeling of a fresh start. Though the year began with many new faces in the halls (and the odd smell from renovations) the first week ended with lifelong friendships and new brothers.

As the year progressed, Rogers displayed its pride at all Interhouse events where some participated and some cheered, and we broke the long cycle of losing, such as Airband. However, this did not eliminate the smell of burnt food and the fire alarm going off as, once again, a Grade 9 had left his Mr Noodles in the microwave too long. Mr Thompson always reminds us “You don’t need to cook on max heat”.

Rogers is more than just the skull and crossbones: it is a home away from home. Since coming to Brentwood in Grade 9, I knew that I belonged. Whether lending a helping hand with homework or simply being there to listen, we’ve built a strong foundation of friendship and support.

I would like to thank the two role models of the house, Mr Snow and Mr T, for the commitment and hard work they do for the house to run smoothly. Grade 9s you still have much to learn and a long way to go but stay young and, though sometimes you guys were a pain, you made Rogers an exciting place to live. Grade 10s, you’re finally seniors, no more getting pushed around, no more extremely early bedtimes. 11s, we pass the torch to you and I am confident that you will succeed in leading the house next year.

Finally, to the 12s, my brothers since day one. Stepping up to any challenge and helping out where you could has made Rogers a better place and I thank you for what you have done throughout our journey together as Pirates. I thank you for all the memories and times we spent together in the house. I have made lifelong friends that I will never forget. I couldn’t be more proud of the brothers I have spent my time with in Rogers.

Once a pirate, forever a pirate.
