Each house at Brentwood is filled with a lush, vibrant community of students and staff, creating a welcoming environment for students to learn and grow. As the doors swing wide for an open house, more than just corridors and common rooms are revealed; they are portals into the lives of students, revealing the definitive aspects that shape each house.

Privett House has always been a warm and welcoming place, boasting a lively and positive atmosphere. So, it was no surprise that the Privett Open House was amazing, allowing a brief, yet fun, experience before final exams begin. Ms Sarah Wolinsky, Privett Assistant Houseparent, voiced “I thought [Privett Open House] went really well this year. It was nice to see people just hanging out and in costume”. In addition to this, Ms Wolinsky joked “I felt really old when students said they didn’t know what The Matrix is”.

This year’s theme was “Movies”, which was revealed after a very cinematic Privett Open House video at Assembly. With various characters from movies such as Fight Club, The Matrix, and a surprising number of Adam Sandler characters, costumed students could be seen roaming the halls of Blue.

From the moment the other houses stepped foot in Privett, they were overtaken by the positive energy circulating throughout the house. One of the attendees, Lily A, Hope ‘26, stated “[Privett Open House] was actually pretty cool. I think all of my friends and I ended up having a really fun time and everyone commented on how nice the house was”. Lily’s opinion was shared by many of the students who attended, with many of them spending Privett Open House dancing in a mosh pit, playing water pong, eating pizza, and even watching movies with friends.

Other than this, one of the main reasons many students attend Privett Open House is because they want to see their friends’ rooms, allowing them to connect further with them. Each student’s room reflects their individuality and creativity as people; upon entering, their passions and interests are revealed. Another one of the attendees, Arielle D, Allard ‘26, said “I went to Privett Open House because I wanted to visit my friends. I also wanted to see how cool their rooms are because I think it’s funny to see what they’ve put up”.

As a Privetteer, I can confirm that the Privett Open House was a massive success. Everywhere I looked, I saw people filling the house with laughter and chatter. Despite Privett’s small size, this open house was definitely up to par with the others.

Thank you to everyone who attended and everyone in Privett who helped set up!
