New Head of Academics In Town!

14 October 2023

“There’s a lot of moving parts” Ms Allen noted when she first stepped onto campus and witnessed the busy Brentwood lifestyle.

Ms Allen has been welcomed with open arms into the Brentwood community as the new Deputy Head of Academics.

Ms Allen heard about the position at Brentwood from her friend Ms Rogers who is the Houseparent of Allard. Ms Rogers had sent Ms Allen the listing and encouraged her to consider the position.

The tripartite program which focuses on arts, athletics and academics is what separates Brentwood from other schools and solidifies its unique approach to create balanced, well-rounded students. At Brentwood, students are blessed with the opportunity to pursue a range of activities that a regular high school doesn’t allow for. This, along with the gorgeous ocean-side view, is what grabbed Ms Allen’s attention.

As the Deputy Head of Academics, Ms Allen oversees the teaching and learning of students and staff. She’s also excited about managing the move into the Centre for Innovation and Learning. She will oversee who will move into the space and how the new resources can be utilized to make the already outstanding academic program even better.

The school year has just begun, but Ms Allen already has a favorite part of her job; she enjoys working with the students. She is engaged as she works with the Student Executive Committee and closely coordinates with Edith W, Allard ‘24, Assistant Head Prefect - Academics of the school.

Edith adds that she enjoys her role as she engages with the student body and listens to Brentwood students’ concerns and takes action for them. A few of her many words of wisdom are that “Brentwood’s academic program has something for everyone. One thing I learnt when I came to Brentwood is that not everyone is “great at school” or has 95s in every class - but they all have an interest that they’re devoted and committed to. Brentwood’s academic program, with over 87 options, provides options for students with varying interests!” Ms Allen is at the heart of that.

We welcome Ms Allen to Brentwood and appreciate her jumping in with both feet to serve our school community.
