Greetings Green Lake
Beginning this past Friday, rowers from the Green Lake boathouse in Seattle drove north to Mill Bay to join Brentwood’s rowers as part of the 12th annual Brentwood-Green Lake training weekend. Our guests were billeted amongst the Brentwood rowers’ dorms where they tasted Brentwood life for the weekend. On the water, both the new men’s and women’s Brentwood eights were assembled with varsity rowers, advanced grade 10’s, and less experienced senior rowers to train and race against two of Green Lake’s Junior Varsity eights.
Smaller Brentwood boats also took part in the sessions as they prepared for October’s Head of Charles in Boston. Power and technique exercises such as “leap frog” and “cutting the cake” complemented the many competitive races in both the frigid mornings of early autumn and during the exquisite mid-afternoons of Canada’s West Coast. The weather could not have been nicer as the only disturbance on the water resulted from a school of porpoises. Both clubs were able to learn from each other, improving with each stroke.
Thanks for coming Green Lake. See you next at the Brentwood Regatta.
