Connor Grimes and the Canadian field hockey team beat South Africa
Connor Grimes (Class of 2001) scored twice for Canada as the team went on to beat South Africa 5-3. This was a monumental first win for team Canada at the Olympic Games. A tie against Great Britain earlier in the week and this victory over South Africa places Canada in the 9th/10th place game on Thursday night against host country China. In one of the national newspapers, Connor was quoted "We love to see the Canadian support we've received here and it was nice to give them this." Connor, of Duncan, B.C., scored twice against the South Africans.
