Best in Boathouse 1

Wednesday, October 23rd saw the first of Brentwood’s fortnightly Best in Boathouse races for the BCRC. This is a 2km race in which times are compared to the times needed to win a gold medal at the CSSRA Regatta in St. Catharines. A staggered start evens out the playing field for everyone, as our ultimate goal is to stand atop that podium come June 6th. While the Junior Boys Double of Alex R and Lion T came first, many crews achieved a time good enough to put them in the finals at St. Catharines. This is a great achievement considering this race happened less than two months into the school year. The experience of racing against other crews was both useful and motivational; the Senior Girl’s 8+ used the same call several times. Cries of “Get Jeen and Kelly!” rang out from both Mrs. Sages’ coach boat and the coxswain’s microphone. Jeen S, Whittall ‘14
