After hours of post-prep rehearsals squeezed in right until the 11th hour, this last weekend held one of the school’s favourite interhouse events. Yes, that’s right ladies and gentleman, Friday night, instead of prep, all students, whether participants in the event or not, gathered in the Killt Theater of the Bunch Centre to watch Airband.

Thanks to student involvement, the event is consistently considered a huge success. As the lights dimmed and our MCs made their way across the stage, the excitement and anxiousness in the room was palatable. Through witty remarks, hysterical jokes and awkward side smiles, the MCs led us through the night. And as expected, it was amazing! Songs brought to the stage include the popular hit, “Cheerleader”, the Back Street boys, and the Roger House Senior’s adaptation of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “I Really Like You”.

It’s always amazing to watch our peers get out on stage, out of their comfort zone, and into the bring lights to bring smiles to the audience’s faces. This year the dances were especially impressive, as students brought in acrobatics, props, and amazing costumes.

I’d like to thank everyone involved for making all the Grade 12s’ last Airband an incredibly funny, memorable, and rewarding experience.

Although Mack-Ellis wiped out the competition this time, there are plenty more interhouse events coming up. So - from an Alex House girl - we wanted you to know - we’re coming for you!
