A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
How fast this year has passed! I remember a year ago when I was packing my bags in Germany to come to Canada, and I still don’t quite know what moved me to leave everything behind and come to the other side of the world. Now it’s time to say goodbye, and I know this will be so bittersweet.
This year at Brentwood has not only taught me how to manage my time, become more open-minded, be more self-confident, but quite frankly, I grew up. I gained another family and made friendships that I know will last a lifetime. Coming to Brentwood was probably the best decision I ever made in my life; while it was terrifying at first, the people surrounding me made Brentwood my home away from home, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Of all the memories that were made, may favourite are the nights where we were on the floor laughing so hard that our stomachs would hurt, but also the not-so-pretty sides of life, where we had to pick each other up.
Two of my closest Brentwood friends shared their experiences this year at Brentwood: “Although this year has been different, there have been a lot of positives, and it has allowed me to strengthen my relationships in the house and learn to appreciate the little things in life” shared Grace D, Alex ‘22. “I find that it is possible to become extremely close to the girls in the house in such a short time, which is why a year of having Esther here has made such a difference” shared Lily H, Alex ‘22.
Thank you to my teachers who made the learning experience at Brentwood fun and exciting, to my amazing Houseparents, Ms Warner and Ms Hall, who became my moms this past year, and lastly, to the fantastic people I met here for making this the happiest year of my life.
