A Clash of Titans

This past week, on April 12, there were four rugby Showcase games hosted at Brentwood against our old rivals, Shawnigan Lake School. Brentwood’s Rugby teams were up for battles. The Junior Boys’ team, coming off two consecutive victories over Nanaimo and Ladysmith, were determined to make Shawnigan Lake School their third prey. Sadly this was not the case. About 30 seconds into the game Shawnigan’s blitzkrieg rocketed past the Brentwood Colts and scored an early try. Eager to never quit, the boys persisted and did their best in a very intense game. The words of their coaches were always in mind: “Every play counts!” Clearly the boys’ hard work did not go unrewarded as Sergey G, Privett ‘16, Trevor E, Privett ‘16, and Salomon G-B, Whittall ‘16 each scored a try while Santiago G, Privett ‘16, converted two of these and we left the Shawnigan side with a good impression of Brentwood’s grit. With their heads up once more, the boys are training even harder with more determination than ever in preparation for their next contest at Vanier on April 24.
